Suddenly, her life changes when she met Dusk Shine (a male version of Twilight Sparkle) and his assistant Spike, as they come from Equestria to Earth, as she sees premonitions about an evil force trying to destroy two worlds, with the help of the Mane Six, Maya and some of her friends must do anything to save Equestria and Humanity.

An American-Japanese animated series is planned prior to the release of the comic book, as Montalvo announced it in NYCC 2013. He said "If the comic books are doing well with good sales, an anime would be possible."

David Production and Hollowfox Entertainment greenlighted the Sigma anime adaptation to be in the works with Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Sket Dance, Nyan-Koi!) as series director and Sadayuki Murai (Steamboy, Knights of Sidonia) as story editor for the Japanese version, while the english version is written by Marty Isenberg (Tenkai Knights, Transformers Animated). It is set to be an AM-Atomix/Toonami Atomix Original Series, which is the first one a Japanese-American animated series is called that since Human Ponidox Continuum Shift, although not a Toonami original.

The series is licensed by Hollowfox and Dentsu USA with Hasbro Studios and Tokyopop co-producing the show with a dub by SDI Media.
